The Power that Lies within Accountability (Part Two)

Posted by John Di Lemme on Aug 29, 2009

Unfortunately, 97% of people aren’t accountable to anyone in life. Being accountable to a boss is a joke.  You show up at your job, you do your job, you go home, and you get paid.  You aren’t accountable to a boss when that’s the extent of your interaction.  Instead, I am talking about an accountability partner. This is someone that will truly stretch you and encourage you.  An accountability partner won’t allow you to remain complacent.  They will push you out of your comfort zone so that you can rise to the next level in life and achieve your Why. That is the power of accountability!

You have to ask yourself three important questions: “Who am I accountable to? When am I accountable to them? How am I accountable to them?” All of my top elite coaching students are accountable to me. The last thing any of my students want to do is email or call me for their accountability updates and say, “John, I have done nothing in order to fulfill my Why.”  I simply refuse to allow them to fail in life and hold them accountable for their fear and procrastination that is stealing their dreams.  It’s easy for someone not to answer for their laziness or other bad habits if they don’t have an accountability partner.  Don’t allow yourself to get stuck in that trap!
